Local council elections tomorrow, is it going to be a hung council again, a bloody nose for the Tories / Lib alliance, or even more crippling defeat for Labour. Thinking of the elections bring to mind many different quotes.
JFK said “Dont ask what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country”?
“All right, but apart from the sanitation, medicine, education, wine, public order, irrigation, roads, the fresh water system and public health, what have the Romans ever done for us? ” – Life of Brian.
“If the United States of America or Britain is having elections, they don’t ask for observers from Africa or from Asia. But when we have elections, they want observers.” —Nelson Mandela on Politics Government
Don’t think the local councilors have been round the ward this year, yeah we get the usual flyers from the parties, make you laugh when they go on about saving the world and recycle, so they send it out-door to door in leaflets and flyers. Bloody typical!
people queuing outside polling stations casting their votes, people refusing to vote, stating they were given the freedom not to vote, true enough but don’t go moaning if the wrong people got in and you don’t like it. a X is more powerful than your tongue. people died to give us a free country a chance to vote without prejudice. use it wisely, use it for a change, use it or lose it.
