Just rambling through the forest of life.

Never enough

Beginning of each month we get the bulk of our food shop delivered. This time our lad was on holiday, so decided to help. We formed a chain, I passed the bags to him, he carried the light ones and soon built up a wall of bags, blocking the door way from the front room to living room.

I started moving it into the kitchen, and asked our son to help carry some of the toilet rolls upstairs, he carried one packet up came down and said he was tired. So I gave him the lecture (not seriously) about kids his age years ago working in coal mines for long hours, and how in some countries again kids his age cook and clean the house or work long hours in factories.

Pretending to scold him, I said you were asked to carry a few bags upstairs, you get free board and lodgings, free clothes, toys whenever we can afford it, two parents who live him dearly what more could you ask for? he stopped in his tracks, thought for a few seconds and said, “A New Ben 10 character”.

I looked at himand started laughing.
